Tshisekedi Hails DRC’s Mining Potential at Indaba 2023

In the era of energy transition, the automotive industrial world is increasingly turning to more appropriate technologies to protect the planet against the harmful effects of climate change.

Speaking on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the podium of the great African forum Mining Indaba 2023) which is being held in Cape Town in South Africa, the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, praised the mining potential of his country.

According to President Félix Tshisekedi, in this period of climate change, his country is proving to be a solution state due to its strategic minerals, which are cobalt, coltan, germanium and lithium, to guarantee a better ecological and energy transition. 

“There is no need to recall here that my country, the Democratic Republic of Congo, is known for its mining potential representing 1,100 different mineral substances. All its provinces can claim to hold mineral wealth. said Felix Tshisekedi.

The Congolese President underlined the efforts made by his Government to clean up the business climate in order to encourage foreign investment.

For Tshisekedi, the DRC currently has an appropriate legal framework, serving to facilitate business operations, protect property rights and settle disputes.

Tax advantages and other facilities linked to the promotion of investments are granted within the framework of the
Investment Code, the revised Mining Code, the Special Economic Zones and the One-
stop shop for business creation as well as the One-stop shop for
foreign trade.

“ My address to this meeting revolves around the reforms undertaken by my country to guarantee not only a good business climate, but also to ensure fair compensation for revenues from mining resources for the Congolese people, with a view to development sustainable.

 I instructed the Government to take initiatives in the direction of being part of a dynamic allowing the improvement of the business climate while ensuring that the implementation of this framework favorable to business really contributes to the well- to be of our people ,” said President Félix Tshisekedi.

The Congolese Head of State indicated that his country is today a destination of choice which offers countless business opportunities that investors should absolutely seize.
